Mumford & Sons opened their “Prizefighter North America Tour” with a sold-out show at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena.
The English band returned to Vancouver after a seven-year hiatus from the city, and the stands were a living proof of it. For this date, they brought Virginia native Sierra Ferrell to open the show.
Sierra, known for wearing striking dresses, took the stage in a red dress, with flowers falling down her hair. She opened with an unreleased song called “Dusty Foot.” She performed a cover of “Years” by John Anderson and another unreleased song called “Paradise” before closing with “Fox Hunt.”
Mumford & Sons hopped on the stage and made the live debut of their latest single, “Begin Again,” and followed with “Babel.” They brought Sierra Ferrell back onstage to perform a new version of “Here,” which they debuted a few weeks ago on Saturday Night Live.
Mid set, while performing “Ditmas,” Marcus hopped off the stage and ran to the stands in front of the stage, and walked among the fans, hugging and high-fiving them. He ran back and stayed for a few seconds in the middle of the floor surrounded by the fans.
They closed the performance in a more intimate way, on a secondary stage opposite the floor; they performed “Timshel,” “Ghosts That We Knew,” and “Awake My Soul.”
They returned to the main stage for an encore of “Prizefighter,” “The Banjo Song,” “I Will Wait,” and “Conversation With My Son (Gangsters & Angels).”
