Manasseh Embraces Chicago House with Wes Muzik’s Remix of “Let’s Be Cool” [Premiere]

With his new single “Let’s Be Cool,” you might say that Manasseh is taking a step back to move forward. That’s because this is a reimagining of the singer and songwriter’s first-ever single release. The remix was done by producer Wes Muzik, highly respected in his field for work with artists like Johari Noelle, Marquis Hill, and Rich Jones. This new version was inspired by Chicago house music, which is a common thread actually throughout Manasseh’s upcoming new album R&B[eyond]. Chicago is Manasseh Croft’s hometown, the place where he was introduced to soul, R&B, and jazz. It is important to him as an artist to pay tribute to the hometown that shaped him so much as a person and an artist.

Discussing this new version of “Let’s Be Cool,” Manasseh states:

“The message is the same for the remix as the song I’ve recently shared — boundaries with dead situations should be respected. However, this version highlights the victory in standing firm in what you’ve established. With an obvious nod and tribute to Chicago house music and South African Amapiano, we invite our listeners to dance on heads of the things that no longer serve their growth!”

His sophomore record, R&B[eyond], is a tribute to his mother. Growing up in a strict Baptist home, R&B, the blues, or rock n’ roll weren’t always acceptable forms of music. But Manasseh’s mother recognized how much her son loved music. As a result, she gave him her blessings to explore secular music and find himself as an artist and songwriter. That permission paved the way for where he finds himself now, making music that he loves with a well-established musical career. It wasn’t hard for Manasseh’s mother to detect his interest in music since she was herself a gifted vocalist. Raised in the church with years spent in the choir, he came into his professional career with a well-established musical foundation.

With his experience and foundation, Manasseh is now widely considered a trusted collaborator and creative for artists across a wide spectrum of genres. Since the release of his debut album Monochromatic Dream in 2022, he has worked on diversifying his sound.
