Montreal’s Les Shirley return with “PLAYER2,” the second single from their forthcoming album HAIL MARY, arriving September 25th. Known for fusing anthemic rock with a defiant punk edge, the trio dial up the emotional stakes, delivering a track that’s as introspective as it is hard-hitting.

“PLAYER2” is a raw, unflinching look at the cycle of self-sabotage and the emotional wreckage it leaves behind. Driven by urgency and tension, the track dives headfirst into the mental spiral of recognizing your own destructive patterns—but feeling powerless to stop them before they hurt someone you love… again.

At its core, the track captures that gut-punch moment of clarity: when regret hits just a little too late. The lyrics are brutally honest, oscillating between apology and accountability, as the narrator confronts their role in repeatedly breaking trust. Lines like “I’m the one to blame / Over and over again” aren’t just confessions—they’re admissions of being trapped in a loop, aware of the damage but stuck in the habit.

The song’s title reframes a romantic partner as a “player two”—a teammate in life who’s been dragged through the chaos of someone else’s inner battles. With HAIL MARY set for release this September, Les Shirley are gearing up for an extensive touring cycle that will carry them through summer 2026 and into 2027. The band will spend the summer bringing their explosive live show to audiences across Quebec before expanding their itinerary nationwide, with additional Canadian dates set to be announced in September.
