Ullrson unveils his first Viking Techno remix release of 2026 with a monumental reinterpretation of DVARA’s “Hafta As.” Rooted in the dead Scythian language and inspired by shamanic rituals honouring the seven gods, the remix transforms DVARA’s sacred source material into a thunderous ceremonial techno journey where ancient Eurasian mysticism meets Norse battle energy.

Built around the haunting invocation “Hafta as koruk raz” — “Seven gods guide us by the star!”, the release channels images of sacred stones, sky-bound prayer, and the chief shaman lifting his hands into the void:

“Long, long stand the sacred stones,
Swift, swift fly the prayers to the sky,
The chief-shaman lifts his hands to the void…”

Through Ullrson’s lens, these ritual phrases become the emotional core of a peak-time Viking Techno weapon designed for both deep spiritual immersion and devastating ceremonial dancefloor impact.

Ullrson comments:

“I wanted the remix to feel like an ancient ritual reborn for the modern ceremonial dancefloor. Keeping DVARA’s incredible throat vocals, beautiful female lead-vocal, tagelharpa, gusle and shamanic percussion intact, I built around them with nyckelharpa, elderwood flute, bronze lur, anvil strikes, war horn textures and a much heavier techno foundation to create something that feels both sacred and devastating on the dancefloor.”

One of the most compelling threads running through the remix is its symbolic connection between Scythian and Norse archery cultures. The Scythians were legendary horse archers whose mastery of the bow defined their mythic status across the ancient world. Ullrson’s own identity draws from Ullr, the Norse god of archery, whose influence also echoes through Anglo-Saxon mythic heritage. In this remix, those great cultures converge into a single sonic ritual — a work of art dedicated to the memory of ancestral gods and warrior traditions.

Sonically, the release is a vast hybrid of ancient instrumentation and peak-time techno force. Ullrson weaves elements from DVARA’s original composition — bass, tagelharpa, gusle, inuk, jaw harp, cello, shamanic percussion, Mahler hammer, throat singing, female ritual vocals, and Inuit throat textures — into a thunderous modern framework. Added layers of powerful kick drums, nyckelharpa, elderwood flute, melancholic synths, atmospheric pads, bronze lur, anvil strikes, chakapa, hats, shakers, rides, extra jaw harp textures, vocal horn, and immersive FX design create a sound world that feels equally at home in ancient ceremony and dark warehouse techno settings.

The result is a truly unique release where Scythian shamanic ritualism and Viking Techno collide, carrying listeners through sacred invocation, warrior trance, and mythic transcendence.

Ullrson is the newly adopted alias of esteemed DJ, Producer, and Radio Host Nick Bowman. Drawing inspiration from Ullr, the enigmatic Norse god associated with archery, oaths, and duelling, Ullrson originates from Norwich, East Anglia—an area replete with rich pagan history and folklore. The moniker pays homage to the region’s storied past, from the Angles settling in East Anglia – a land ruled by the Wuffingas “The Kin of the Wolf” with links to the epic poem Beowulf, the “Great Heathen Army” and Danish Viking rule to the legendary Queen Boudicca’s resistance against Roman oppression.

A respected name in UK techno, Nick Bowman has spent 16 years at the helm of The Future Underground Show, championing leading underground talent from across the globe. His driving bass-heavy techno has powered sets at iconic venues including Ministry of Sound, Pacha London, Egg and Basing House, while international appearances in Colombia, Germany and Italy have further expanded his reach. Bowman’s first Ministry of Sound booking came after winning IDJ’s renowned “Raw Talent Competition,” with his acclaimed mix drawing praise from Jody Wisternoff, Riva Starr and Deepgroove.
