“Sense” introduces a softer, more melodic side to the songwriter and multi-instrumentalist following his departure from alternative rock outfit Coming Up Roses earlier this year. Built around shimmering guitars, sparkling synth textures and an instantly memorable chorus, the track draws influence from artists such as boy pablo and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, while still carrying traces of the emotive guitar-driven songwriting that defined Darius’ previous work.

Written about the early stages of his current relationship, “Sense” captures the comfort and excitement of finding an effortless connection with another person.

Speaking about the single, darius explains:

“I wrote this song when I first got together with my now-girlfriend last summer. It’s about that feeling of when you find someone who you connect with so easily — like two peas in a pod. A close friend of ours said to me: ‘you guys make sense’ and that’s when the first sparks of the idea came to me.”

The release also marks Darius’ first fully independent solo effort, with the track self-recorded, produced and mixed by the artist himself. Having spent the past few years touring extensively across Asia with Coming Up Roses and performing at festivals including Liverpool Sound City and Canadian Music Week, “Sense” represents both a fresh creative direction and a return to more personal songwriting.

Reflecting on the transition into solo work, he says:

“It’s been a bit of a whirlwind of a year for me, but I feel like I’m finally where I’m supposed to be and I can’t wait to release some of the songs that I’ve kept in the locker for years.”

The release of “Sense” will be followed by a debut headline show at The Finsbury in London on June 12th, with additional singles scheduled throughout the rest of 2026, including “Falling Behind” in July.

With its bright melodic hooks and heartfelt songwriting, “Sense” feels like a confident introduction to the next stage of darius oon’s musical journey.

I have an unhealthy obsession with bad horror movies, the song Wanted Dead Or Alive and crap British game shows. I do this not because of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle it affords me but more because it gives me an excuse to listen to bands that sound like hippos mating.
