Canadian singer, producer, and recording artist Darcy D has partnered with V13 Press, the publishing division of V13 Media Group, for the release of his memoir, The Theory of KAOS.

The book traces his early years as the frontman of Simon Kaos, capturing the realities of life on the road—volatile shows, near misses, and the constant tension between momentum and collapse. Set in Canada’s late ’80s music scene, The Theory of KAOS offers a raw, reflective look at the moments that shape an artist long before the spotlight finds them.

The autobiography centers on his time as frontman of Simon Kaos, documenting the realities, risks, and defining moments of life on stages across Canada’s club circuit, where touring and performance built the foundation of his career.

Darcy D first emerged as a frontman in the touring club band Simon Kaos, performing from 1981 to 1987. He later went on to share Gold record success with Juno Award–winning Canadian recording artists Prism, performing with the band from 1987 through 2004. His recorded work, spanning rock to jazz standards, has been released worldwide.

Over the years, Darcy’s work has extended beyond the stage. In addition to performing internationally, he has served as a tour manager for Nettwerk Management in Vancouver and as company manager for the stage production Red Rock Diner. In 2012, he was nominated for a “BCCMA Producer of the Year Award,” recognizing his work behind the scenes in music production.

In recent years, Darcy has expanded into production, coaching, and digital training, including the development of the Virtual Voice Coach app, a platform designed to help singers strengthen their voices and develop sustainable vocal techniques. With The Theory of KAOS, he brings together the experiences that led to that evolution, reflecting on the moments that shaped his path both on and off the stage.

Alongside his performing and production work, Darcy has built a reputation as a respected voice teacher. With voice study as his central focus, he spent seven years studying and teaching the SLS method and has been a member of the International Voice Teachers of Mix since 2011. From 2014 to 2017, he also held a seat on the board of the Los Angeles–based organization Vocology in Practice. Today, he works as a content consultant and presenter for SINGEO, a Musora Media online education platform, while coaching singers around the world through virtual sessions.

Those decades of experience ultimately led to the creation of Virtual Voice Coach, an app designed to help vocalists develop stronger, healthier singing voices while navigating the demands of modern music careers.

Beyond the book, Darcy continues to contribute to the music community through his Industry Insider series on V13 Media, where musicians, producers, and industry veterans share the experiences that shaped their careers. That same spirit of storytelling and reflection forms the core of Theory of KAOS.

Through his partnership with V13 Press, The Theory of KAOS brings these stories together in a memoir that captures the realities of life in music and the resilience required to sustain it.

Additional details about the release of The Theory of KAOS will be announced through V13 Press and Darcy D Music Group.
