Brooklyn-based producer and DJ wev has officially announced his debut album, OST, arriving May 29th. Alongside the announcement, the NY rave-scene mainstay has released the second single from the album, “GET W THIS.” The track follows his rap-infused club anthem “TECHNOCHRONIC,” featuring Yoshi T. of WHATMORE, while his single “Shigoto Werk” was recently featured on the Rocket League Season 22 soundtrack.
“GET W THIS” showcases wev’s ability to channel nostalgic elements through a forward-leaning club sensibility. A swinging drum groove and punchy sample chop drive the track from the jump, carrying a playful edge reminiscent of early ’90s house deep cuts. Rolling garage-house drums anchor the low end while a bright, whirling West Coast synth line highlights the contrast of the Bay Area-born, Brooklyn-bred producer. It’s a high-energy record built for peak-time sets — channelling the spirit of day parties, house dancers, and lights-on moments where the entire room is moving
wev comments:
“‘’GET W THIS’ is a spiritually correct representation of my sound: playful, confident, and with swagger built to make the room move and shout. It’s a jackin’ garage-house record I was inspired to make while watching some 90’s NYC dance documentaries, which resonated heavily with the energy I try to imbue musically.”
wev’s sound is rooted in the DNA of ’90s house and garage — inherited not through the dancefloor, but through play. Raised on late ’90s video game soundtracks, which reflected the club music of that era, he traced those sounds back to the source and built something native to both worlds: music that moves a club the way a great soundtrack moves through a game. Like those games that shaped him, wev creates immersive worlds for listeners to get lost in. His work is brought to life through visualizations by longtime collaborator Nam Mac (@lordstingray), with work featured in campaigns for Marc Jacobs’ Heaven, Adidas, and G-Shock.
