Slow Shiv is a 3-piece band from Nashville, TN. Describing their sound as “Diet Violence” or “Mean Pop,” Slow Shiv aims to mix sounds from extreme alternative rock genres with pop hooks and melody. They have stated that they want to make pop music for heavy music fans and heavy music for pop fans.

The band was founded in 2023 after Diarrhea Planet founding member and primary songwriter, Jordan Smith (aka Hodan Dickie in DP circles), played several reunion shows with Diarrhea Planet and decided to return to writing and playing live music. Smith reached out to Nashville producer Dan Diaz, a long-time friend and collaborator, who had toured as Diarrhea Planet’s bass player during their final tours, and the two soon joined up and began writing songs.

The duo eventually found themselves in need of a hard-hitting, heavy-sounding drummer. Diaz was able to reach out to touring and studio drummer Jordan McGee, whom Dan had worked with on previous projects. McGee, known for his powerfully intense drumming in hardcore band Advent, was a natural fit for the band’s sound. McGee joined with Diaz and Smith, and the three of them became Slow Shiv. Slow Shiv released their first EP, titled I on August 24, 2024, at Row One in Nashville. They have continued to play live in Nashville since, building up a local fan base and are planning on releasing their second EP II on May 22nd 2026.
