San Francisco’s Wave Wise Release New Single “Rise”
Wave Wise are back with their first release of the year, “Rise”, and it showcases a new side of the band. The song starts off very serene, calm and dreamy, before growing into a full, vintage, 70s rock feel.
After their debut album You’ll Know in 2022 and the White Hot EP in 2024, this latest release marks a vibe shift. In some ways, “Rise” is a landmark release displaying how far the band has come from their early, fully self-produced days. The San Francisco duo, comprised of Doug French on drums and Nick Semansky on guitar and vocals, worked with engineer Jake Kremer and mastering engineer Dan Millice, giving the track a bigger, more polished sound while still staying true to their approach.
“This is a song about lifting yourself up; start your morning as the best version of you. . .”
Lyrically, the main message behind “Rise” is about letting go of fear and trusting yourself. Lines like the repeated phrase “It’s time” and “Let go and you’ll fly / above the trees / it sets you free” push a simple message: stop holding yourself back and let yourself be free. In their words, “This is a song about lifting yourself up; start your morning as the best version of you, and set the tone for the rest of your day, and beyond.”
The sound matches that sentiment. With looping guitars, strong rhythmic identity, and vocals that feel wide open, the track grows and lifts as it progresses. It’s the kind of song that feels both relaxed and powerful at the same time.
“Rise” isn’t just a new single, it’s a signal that Wave Wise are on the rise and not slowing down.
