Mixol Announces Debut EP; Shares “we jump, our carnival” Single + Video
Art pop arist Mixol has released her new single “we jump, our carnival” and has also announced her debut EP ‘The Fool.’
Twenty-four-year-old emerging singer-songwriter and self-proclaimed witch Mixol is a cult-inspired art-pop artist crafting immersive, multi-platform experiences. She has announced her debut EP, The Fool, alongside lead single “we jump, our carnival” — an intense, passionate anthem centred on women’s empowerment.
Born and raised in Beijing, Mixol earned her degree at Berklee College of Music in Boston before attending the Tokyo College of Music. She cites the “four mothers of her creation” — Björk, Kate Bush, Fiona Apple, and Sheena Ringo — as primary influences, shaping the whimsical, witchy sound world of The Fool.
Inspired by the first tarot card, Card 0, The Fool represents new beginnings, unruled hearts, and the courage to step forward without knowing what lies ahead. It’s optimism without a safety net — a journey that begins simply because it must.
Blending orchestral soundscapes, sharp metaphors, and theatrical pop instincts, the EP feels expansive and cinematic — bold and emotionally unfiltered. Visually, the project extends into eight-bit kawaii-creepy narrative games tied to each song, alongside cult-film-inspired content across TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
Having lived across multiple countries and cultural spaces, Mixol is deeply fascinated by language and its emotional texture. That curiosity shapes music that feels less written than channelled. For her, identity remains fluid and unresolved — and that space of uncertainty is where the work lives.
The Fool imagines its namesake as a figure resting before a journey — carrying a sword, a wand, and a pouch of coins, hair glowing red-gold against the dark. She doesn’t know where she’s going. She only knows she must go.
Buckle up.
She’s The Fool — and the journey has just begun.
“we jump, our carnival” is out now, followed by The Fool, out June 15th.
