Kyle T. Hurley Hits Hard with His New Single “My Old Man” [Premiere]
Singer-songwriter Kyle T. Hurley premieres his new single “My Old Man” from his forthcoming album ‘KTH 3:16’ (Spiritual Records).
With his working-class background and hard work approach, Kyle T. Hurley is an artist who is easy to get behind. His down-to-earth nature is quite apparent on his new single “My Old Man.” This is the second single from his upcoming new album KTH 3:16, which will be released later this year via Spiritual Records.
With “My Old Man,” Hurley meant for this song to hit hard. The song begins fairly laid back, reminiscent of a typical country rock track. Then, it unexpectedly gets loud and rocking, with Hurley yelling out his words with conviction and confidence. “My Old Man” is a nice display of the range and breadth of Hurley’s songwriting. Country, the blues, and singer-songwriter music are all near and dear to him. But he’s also a lover of rock n’ roll who is not afraid to turn both his guitar and the intensity up.
With its subject matter, “My Old Man” required an aggressive, self-assured delivery. Commenting on the song, Hurley states:
“The song is about the fighter who fights his way through life and refuses to stay down, no matter how hard life hits. And then very much like Rocky, he wins in the end, the people’s champion.”
Hurley has earned himself a nice reputation over the years for his modern approach to classic country blues and modern rock. He came up in the Los Angeles club scene and is now living in London. He has become well known across the UK as well as Western Europe. London is where he has been hard at work on KTH 3:16. With the assistance of Spiritual Records, Hurley has been using his time in London wisely. The label owns a venue in Camden Town, which provides Hurley the opportunity to try out his songs there on nearly a nightly basis. London has become like a second home to him, as it is the place where he also recorded his second and third albums, KTH II and KTH III.
As an artist, Hurley tries hard not to be predictable. He likes to explore different sounds and styles, which sets him apart from many other singer-songwriters. There’s a lot to respect about Hurley, a songwriter who is dedicated to his craft. He’s traditional, but also very forward-thinking and is never content just doing the same thing twice.
