Kelila Ranta just dropped her new single, “princess of the dive”, and it’s a laid-back, emotional intro to her self-described “delusional yearner” world. Sonically, the track features soft acoustic guitar and dreamy soundscapes that underpin Kelila’s soulful, layered vocals, creating something that feels unmistakably authentic.

Produced by Jacob Blizard (known for working with Lucy Dacus), the song paints a picture of a small-town bartender who has their eye on a regular customer. The song makes you question whether it’s real or in the bartender’s head. There is a blurred line between truth and imagination that gives the song its moody, hazy feel.

Kelila is originally from Indiana but is now based in the Upstate of South Carolina. She pulls from artists like Michelle Branch, Avril Lavigne, and Julia Jacklin and you can hear those influences in her music while her stylings stay simultaneously unique.

The new single also comes from a real place. In her words, “It was really inspired by my time working in the service industry. It was a time where I had sort of abandoned my passion for music and was just getting by and just had really lost a sense of direction. This created some deep insecurities that led me to project onto the people who would come into my bar.”

Released on her own label, Telekinetic Recordings, “princess of the dive” is just a taste of what’s to come. She’s got more songs coming soon, with a full album planned for 2027.
