Everyday Dolores Releases Full-Length Album ‘The L.C.D.’
Everyday Dolores, the independent prog-ternative pop rock project created by Mike Ulliman, returns with a completed 10 track full length album titled The L.C.D. Known for his knack of blending emotionally driven songwriting with layered production, and ever pleasing sonic tones, the project continues to exist outside traditional industry structures while focusing on real human expression.
The album opens with the title track, setting the tone immediately, introducing listeners to the world of this record with a somewhat soothing vibe under Ullimans’ vocals. It establishes a calm but emotionally rich foundation that foreshadows what’s to come. Across the full album, The L.C.D. carries a strong energy and harkens back to the 70s era flower power music while remaining unmistakably modern and unique to Everyday Dolores.
One of the new tracks unveiled with the release is the single “Dogs Should Rule.” Mike Ulliman describes it as a personal creative milestone. “This is my first attempt at a rock n roll ballad in the 30 plus years of Everyday Dolores. It’s much harder to write a ballad than I thought because the line between total cheese and legit is so very fine. But I think I stayed on the right side and am really happy with ‘Dogs Should Rule’…and they should.”
The song reflects on empathy, moral conflict, and human inconsistency, suggesting that dogs represent a purer form of love and honesty. With lyrics like “Dogs have more love than our human nature” and “We know what’s right but close our eyes,” the track speaks of many of the flaws in human nature. Perhaps we could learn a thing or two from our canine friends.
The album artwork, created by Jay Holmes (often known as “Evil Jay”), is the perfect visual introduction to the sonic experience that awaits the new listener, rounding out the whole presentation. With The L.C.D., Everyday Dolores delivers a cohesive and heartfelt album built on honesty, imperfection, and reflection.
