With the new music video for “Outta Control” by Crispy Danger, it’s more than just a premiere; it’s more like an unveiling. This is the debut single from the Melbourne, Australia band, a statement of intent of who they are and what they stand for. The song is as rocking as can be, with its driving beat, heavy riffs, and Eddie Van Halen-like guitar solo. It’s like a party rock track, and you are one of the first to be invited to the gathering.

The band describes “Outta Control” as “heavy metal disco,” which suggests to you the fun, festive nature of it. Seeing as this is the band’s debut single, it was important for them to pair it with a strong visual accompaniment, which they succeeded at. Simple and straightforward, but very effective, the video acts as a nice introduction to the trio, not just musically, but visually. They have a rock n’ roll look and a party-like aesthetic, which makes their music immediately accessible.

Commenting on the song, the band states:

“Crazy feeds crazy is the theme of the song. I hate going into depth about the lyrics because you end up sounding like a wanker, but I think the chorus gets the feeling across: Unstable times – they breed unstable minds. Unstable minds – they breed unstable times. We live in a crazy world, and a lot of people are getting advice from AI chatbots that are trained on insane tweets written during COVID lockdowns. What the fuck could possibly go wrong with that? We started off with a bass groove and built the song around it. We ended up with a super energetic track with raw, paranoid lyrics that sum up this moment in time perfectly.”

Crispy Danger first received notice from Chris Lorde-Alge, one of the great audio mixing engineers of the last 40 years, who has won multiple Grammy Awards for his work. It’s all come together quite quickly for the band, as they only formed officially last year. They actually formed at the Back to the Beginning Festival last year, which was, of course, the momentous Black Sabbath benefit concert that occurred last summer. The band is fronted by the brother-sister duo of David Rex and Michelle Maxx. The band is very dedicated to their musical upbringing, which featured a steady dose of heavy metal and riff rock. Also featuring drummer Frankie Demuru, they are a quintessential power trio.

With this just being the beginning, Crispy Danger has many tricks up their sleeve to come. We’ll await what’s to come with earnest anticipation.
