Leading force in Austin’s coffee scene, Barrett’s Coffee, announces its new free delivery services, May and June programming, as well as a June screening of “Coffee The Universal Language” featuring Barrett’s Owner Travis Kizer. The screening will take place at their newest spot, Barrett’s Too, located at 103 N Loop Blvd E., and is open to the public. Leading up to the screening in June, Barrett’s is offering a series of Spring events and regular happenings at this second location, including open mic nights, trivia and more. Media and food writers interested in attending the screening of “Coffee The Universal Language” or stopping in to review Barrett’s coffee with a complimentary tasting can email here.

Barrett’s now also offers free home delivery spanning the Austin area for their coffee, and locals can order as little as one-pound bags or a single jug of Barrett’s cold brew for next-day delivery. Their coffee roasts are also available to purchase online and in-store, alongside their unique merch line. You can find their online store.

Named one of the “Best Coffee Shops in Austin” by the likes of Eater Austin, The Infatuation, Thrillist and Austin.com, Barrett’s is regarded as one of the reasons Austin was ranked the No. 1 Best Coffee City in America this year at the Food & Wine Global Tastemakers Awards. After winning Austin Monthly’s Best of ATX award for “Best Coffee Shop” in 2022, James Beard Award–winning chef Aaron Franklin said, “Travis Kizer is the best coffee roaster in town…He played an integral role in the third wave coffee roasting scene here and is just a really, really talented guy.”

Barrett’s has been a part of the Austin coffee community for almost a decade. Before their first location was founded nine years ago in 2017, the Barrett’s team has been roasting coffee locally since the mid-1990s. Owner of Barrett’s, Travis Kizer, has been involved in the coffee industry since 1992. Travis has decades of experience sourcing and roasting beans, and has built strong connections in both the local and global coffee community.

His experience led him to Barrett’s with the aim to create not just great coffee, but a sense of community and connection with their patrons, authentic to Austin’s culture. He established Barrett’s original North Lamar location at 713 W St. Johns Ave., which is home to their daily roasting and packaging activities. The team expanded their offerings from the original cafe to their second location, Barrett’s Too, which has a full bar and kitchen in addition to their house-roasted coffee.

What’s their secret sauce? Barrett’s roasting process happens five days a week on two Diedrich drum roasters, producing about 5,000 pounds of ready-to-brew beans per week. The team purchases directly from farms and brokers located across Honduras, Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Peru and Ethiopia and sources from fair trade, organic certified and women-produced coffees that help to give back: funding local K-12 schools, women’s programs, trash and recycling programs, computer labs and more alongside general funds that go straight back to the farmers and their families. Barrett’s mindful sourcing supports the whole coffee ecosystem, from the sourcers themselves, to the local community drinking their well-crafted brews. Both Barrett’s locations offer coffee, a full bar and a café.

Barrett’s Roaster Steven Kerner comments:

“For me, it is waking up every day and getting to do what I love, something I care about, and a way I can make a real difference for the people who taste our beans. It offers me a way to affect real change in the world and spread compassion, love, care and community.”

The company also dabbles in other innovative and sustainable products, which are available in both stores, including their newly launched Bubbs Seltzer. They are one of only four companies in the country that offer this type of reusable and sustainable siphon-bottled seltzer, delivered for free right to your doorstep. The seltzer is filtered five times and UV purified. Bubbs recently competed in the third annual Egg Cream Invitational in Brooklyn as part of the Brooklyn Seltzer Festival to wide acclaim.
