Abbie Ozard releases epic new single “Backbone.” The fuzz-drenched tune bursts into life from the off and is an empowering, arms-wide platform for Abbie to showcase her vocal chops and ear for a hook.

Thematically, it tackles confusion and catharsis in the pinpoint way Abbie has developed over the years – as she explains:

“‘Backbone’ channels the self-destruction that comes from avoiding conflict at all costs, where keeping peace and saying sorry too much can cost you your voice.”

The new single marks her first eagerly anticipated release in a couple of years, following her debut album, everything still worries me (2024/House Anxiety). This was the culmination of a first phase during which she was championed by the most trusted of tastemakers. Press takes have come in from broadsheets (The Times, The Independent), indie bibles (DORK, The Line of Best Fit, Clash) and style/culture press (The FADER, NOTION, HUNGER) alike.

Jack Saunders and Huw Stephens have consistently backed both across BBC Radio 1, where she has also seen daytime airplay courtesy of a “BBC Introducing Track of the Week” grab. Abbie McCarthy and Chris Hawkins have been fans at BBC 6 Music.

Headline tours over the years; a debut Glastonbury performance and European tour support stint with Briston Maroney, as well as many festival slots, have seen Abbie hone delivering her indie anthems to a fine art.
