The Nth Power Preview & Detail New Album ‘Never Alone’
The Nth Power has announced their new album ‘Never Alone’ and have released the single “Dream Alive,” and its accompanying music video.
Location has always influenced music, and The Nth Power leaned into that idea while creating their forthcoming album Never Alone. The trio travelled to a farmhouse studio in Colchester, Vermont, overlooking Lake Champlain, where two weeklong recording sessions shaped the entire project.
Invited by Phish bassist Mike Gordon, drummer Nikki Glaspie, guitarist Nick Cassarino, and bassist Nate Edgar set up shop in the quiet lakeside environment. Removed from the pace of touring and city life, they focused entirely on the music.
The setting quickly began to shape the creative process. Cassarino recalls recording one night during a lunar eclipse, an experience that left a strong impression on the band. The unusual atmosphere became part of the album’s origin story.
Those sessions produced eight songs that now make up Never Alone, the band’s fourth full-length release, scheduled to arrive May 1st. The first single, “Dream Alive,” offers an introduction to the album’s direction.
Driven by a confident groove, “Dream Alive” emphasizes the trio’s musical chemistry. Edgar’s bass lines carry the song forward while Glaspie’s drumming shifts effortlessly between power and restraint. Cassarino’s guitar work ties everything together, creating a rhythmic conversation across the track.
Lyrically, the song centers on perseverance and chosen family. Cassarino describes it as a reflection of the people who move through life together and help sustain each other through difficult moments.
The accompanying music video captures the band performing inside San Francisco’s Glide Memorial Church. The setting highlights the spiritual thread that runs through much of The Nth Power’s music.
The album also features contributions from several notable musicians. Jazz trumpeter Nicholas Payton, saxophonist Skerik, Courtney Smith, and New Orleans brass group The Soul Rebels appear across the record, expanding the sound while maintaining the trio’s core identity.
That identity has always been rooted in groove and connection. Since first performing together at New Orleans Jazz Fest in 2011, The Nth Power have developed a loyal audience drawn to their uplifting approach.
The group’s individual résumés remain impressive. Glaspie toured with Beyoncé’s Suga Mamas, Edgar spent years with John Brown’s Body, and Cassarino has collaborated with artists across jazz, soul, and hip-hop.
Even with those wide-ranging experiences, the band consistently circles back to the same shared philosophy. Music works best when it connects people.
Never Alone carries that belief forward. With “Dream Alive,” the band opens the door to a record shaped by place, collaboration, and the energy of a Vermont night under a lunar eclipse.
