Acclaimed singer-songwriter Michaela Anne will release her new album These Are The Days on May 8 via her independent label Georgia June Records. The album’s title track and first single, “These Are The Days,” is out today. Written during a season of profound transition, These Are The Days captures the emotional landscape of a working mother learning to find meaning in the everyday. As Anne balanced raising two young children while caring for her own mother following a life-altering stroke, the songs became a meditation on devotion, resilience, and the quiet weight of ordinary life. “The humdrum is holy,” she sings on the title track, a mantra that runs through the record’s celebration of small moments that ultimately define a life.
The album also marks a new chapter of independence for Michaela Anne. Recorded at her home studio, a backyard sanctuary built by her husband and producer Aaron Shafer-Haiss and his father, These Are The Days is the first music of her career that she fully owns and the debut release on Georgia June Records.
The creative spark for the record arrived unexpectedly. Backstage in a dim green room while touring in the UK, Anne recorded a voice memo that would become the chorus to “If Your Body Fails You,” her first song written in two years. The song reflects on witnessing her mother’s loss of mobility and independence and the deeper understanding of unconditional love that followed.
With These Are The Days, Anne turns inward, embracing the truth that there is no love without grief, and that adulthood and motherhood often mean learning to hold both at once.
