Back in 2025, Journey announced their “Final Frontier Tour.” A tour that was crowned their farewell tour, kicking off in February 2026 and taking the band across Canada and America until July, when they finish in Texas.

Downtown Hamilton was more lively than ever for the final time. Journey will visit Hamilton, Ontario. Hamilton is a spot that Journey has visited a few times; funny enough, they have visited throughout every name change the venue has gone through. In 2012, the band played when the arena was called Copps Coliseum, the original, and a name that Hamiltonians still use to this day, then in 2015 they played when it was called FirstOntario Centre, and one last time under the arena’s brand new name: TD Coliseum.

The “Final Frontier Tour” doesn’t have an opener for any of the 60 dates. Instead, the band plays a 27-song setlist, covering songs from seven albums and a special rendition of “O’Canada,” only in the Canadian cities, of course.

Despite rumours about a potential reunion with Steve Perry before the tour kicked off, they were quickly debunked by Perry himself. This meant that Arnel Pineda, who has been crowned the frontman of Journey since 2007, would finish off the band’s legacy.

I’d be lying if I said he wasn’t the right guy for the job. Say what you want about Pineda, but what you can’t deny is that he’s a great vocalist. What really stood out to me was his ability to hold ridiculously high notes. At age 58, you may expect him to drop a few notes throughout the show, but here’s the thing: he just doesn’t.

And you can’t talk about Journey without mentioning the last original remaining member of Journey and the man behind all the solos fans love: Neal Schon. A Journey set for this guy is like a playground, almost every song showcases his talents at guitar solos and just like Pineda, he doesn’t miss a note.

All the Journey members had multiple opportunities to shine throughout the show. Different songs later in the set featured different lead singers. Drummer Deen Castronovo and keyboardist Jonathan Cain took the lead vocal role on a good number of songs throughout the setlist, whilst Pineda took on the hits that the fans know and love.

Although the future of Journey is still undecided, as bands will often reunite after their farewell tour, it’s safe not to risk missing out on seeing Journey. If you haven’t seen them in your lifetime and you’re a fan of rock music, this is a show very worthy of your time and hard-earned money.
