Leading dance music label Ultra Records has announced that Carlos Alcala has joined Ultra Records as Director of A&R.
Over the last 30+ years, Ultra Records has become one of the largest and most respected brands in the global dance and electronic music world. They have announced that Carlos Alcala has joined Ultra Records as Director of A&R.
Carlos Alcala, who boasts over a decade of leading A&R in dance music, will represent the New York-based label from Los Angeles and be focused on identifying the next wave of global dance music and breaking records that cut through the noise. Known for his sharp instinct for hits, deep artist relationships, and relentless drive for great music, he’s committed to shaking things up and helping shape the next era of the genre.
Prior to joining Ultra Records, Carlos Alcala was instrumental in helping bring Thrive Music back to prominence following its 2015 relaunch, developing a reputation for discovering and building forward-thinking talent while helping shape records that resonated globally across clubs, festivals, and streaming platforms. He is also widely recognized for building strong, trusted relationships with the artists and teams he collaborates with.
Throughout his career, Carlos has worked closely with both emerging and established artists, including Tiësto, Kaskade, ACRAZE, Wuki, and Gudfella, helping guide creative direction, identify breakout records, and build long-term careers in electronic music. His work has contributed to several major wins in dance music, including the global breakout of ACRAZE’s “Do It To It,” which has amassed over a billion streams worldwide and became one of the defining dance records of its era. In addition, working closely with artists like Wuki contributed to their global growth with releases supported across major DSPs, radio, and festival stages around the world.
President of Ultra Records, David Waxman, comments:
“Carlos has a great reputation, and his relationships run deep from his 10+ years of experience in dance music. That’s why I’m glad to have him on board as A&R director at Ultra Records.”
Alcala shares:
“Ultra is one of the most iconic dance music labels in the world, and I’m honoured to help carry its legacy forward while continuing to push boundaries and shake things up. It’s an honour to work alongside David, whom I’ve long admired and deeply respected for what he and the label have done for dance music.”
