Alaskan Tapes presents the new single, “We Move Slightly Forward.” Alaskan Tapes is the ever-evolving ambient music projectof composer Brady Kendall. “We Move Slightly Forward” was created remotely by Toronto, Ontario’s Alaskan Tapes on piano and Portland, Oregon’s Blu Miles on saxophone, sharing stems back and forth across over 4,000 kilometres. The track offers a glimpse of Alaskan Tapes’ forthcoming album, set for release later this year via We All Speak in Poems.

Explains Alaskan Tapes:

“Contextually, ‘We Move Slightly Forward’ is exactly what it says it is: a way to move forward in the album. Blu and I made this track as raw and unprocessed as possible to feel like a ‘breather’ track before the album takes on a more edited feel. It was composed separately, with myself in my home Studio in Oshawa, and Blu at his studio in Portland, I sent him the small piano part, and he improvised over top.”

Known for cinematic, emotionally resonant soundscapes that sit at the intersection of modern classical and electronic minimalism, Alaskan Tapes has amassed over 200 million streams globally, plus a myriad of film scores and soundtrack compositions. Alaskan Tapes has allowed his work to progress organically and build upon its foundations, resulting in a craft both enjoyable for its maker and exciting for its audience. In 2024, Alaskan Tapes launched his own label, We All Speak in Poems, to continue that organic growth for his own music projects and to enable him to support and celebrate the artists who inspire him.
