With style, substance, balance, and confidence, Teen Idle saunters beautifully through her brand new single “Infinite Sea.” Full of emotion, positive energy, and passion, this song tugs on all of the right heartstrings, both lyrically and musically. “Infinite Sea” accomplishes a lot in three minutes, showing off the artist’s incredible vocal and instrumental abilities. Teen Idle is the moniker of singer-songwriter Sara Abdelbarry. She plays all of the instruments (except the drums) and delivers a devastating electric guitar solo.

“Infinite Sea” is a song about longing for one’s lover by the sea. The lyrics feature a lot of maritime imagery, emphasizing the influence that growing up on the shores of New Jersey had on Abdelbarry. It should resonate with anyone who has experienced unrequited love or felt the loss of a loved one.

Commenting on the single, Abdelbarry states:

“‘Infinite Sea’ is probably the song I’ve released that feels the most me so far. Not to say that my other releases don’t also feel incredibly personal, but I think I was able to head in a direction on this track that is really just a beacon of what I want to accomplish sonically down the line. This is a song for all the lovers and the yearners out there. I’m such a lover, so much so that I wear my heart on my sleeve, and it sometimes gets me into trouble, but I’ll be a lover for life. And this song is for everyone who also feels that way.”

As a musician, Abdelbarry can literally do it all. Not only does she play nearly all of the instruments, but she also produces her own music. You’ll get to experience more of her talents on her upcoming sophomore album, A Heart So Tender. The album is scheduled to be released on May 1st, and although she leads the way as producer, she did for the first time work with a co-producer in Matteo DeBenedetti of Flycatcher and Charlie & Margot. Abdelbarry describes her music as rock with pop sensibilities. There is an obvious 1960s pop influence in her music, particularly crooner ballads of that time from artists like Roy Orbison and The Ronettes. Interestingly enough, Abdelbarry was set on a career in medicine while she was in grade school. She always enjoyed music, though, and just rode a wave to where she is now.

A Heart So Tender will be the follow-up to her 2023 debut album Nonfiction. The new album promises to maintain the lyrical prowess and sincerity of her debut. There is a heartfelt passion that abounds in Teen Idle’s music. It’s a sincerity that will continue to carry her forward to new heights.
