Oakland Weekender is teaming up with SF Bay Area record labels Speakeasy Studios SF and Slumberland Records to bring you SF Bay Popfest! Sixteen stellar indie pop bands and DJs from across the land will converge on Bottom of the Hill for four exciting nights, August 20th-23rd, 2026! Get ready for a full slate of some of the best bands to put their pen to pop songwriting and carry on the true DIY pop spirit. Headliners include: legendary Slumberland records pop maestros, The Aislers Set, returning to SF with the full band for one last hurrah at the soon-to-close Bottom of the Hill; songwriting genius Dear Nora, who returns to the bay with a classic lineup, sure to tear at all our heartstrings; west bay legend Tony Molina, Slumberland records pioneer & craftsman of melodies distilled in pop perfection; and The Umbrellas, local favorites whose shambolic guitars, rich songwriting & duet vocals nod at the Pastels side of anorak indie.
Traveling from near and far, the rest of the lineup for the fest includes: Jeanines, from Massachusetts, whose latest album How Long Can It Last (Slumberland) made Top of 2025 lists across the land; Lightheaded, New Jersey’s finest pop melody writers, whose sophomore album Thinking, Dreaming, Scheming (Slumberland) has taken them around the world making friends and fans alike; Galore, SF Bay pop quartet – known for their layers of melody and songcraft – celebrating their new album Dirt (Speakeasy Studios SF); WUT out of Vancouver, Canada, with their unique brand of riffy jangle guitar pop; Paper Jam, from Denton, Texas (but you’d almost think they stepped out of early ’90s England Sarah records!); Pillow Fight from LA, ’60s and girl group inspired jangle pop in the c86 vein; Wifey, Oakland-based band fronted by Cher Strauberry of “twompsax” who plays lovey songs of the girl punk indie rock persuasion; The Kitchenettes, an SF-based trio featuring Morgan of the Umbrellas, whose heavenly pop shines brightly; Monster Treasure out of Stockton, California, who create gorgeous harmonies while their guitars turn up to 11; Artsick (Slumberland), hooks & guitar driven jangles fronted by bay veteran Riley; Kids On A Crime Spree (Slumberland), who craft rambunctious Spectorian pop perfection; and last but not least Remedy & Wren, the terrific new jangle pop project of Alicia from Poundsign & The Aislers Set.
