MOViE MOViE Celebrates the 15th Anniversary of Josie Ho’s Horror Classic ‘Dream Home’
Hong Kong’s MOViE MOViE channel recently premiered the International Version of Josie Ho’s movie, ‘Dream Home,’ on its 15th Anniversary.
Hong Kong’s MOViE MOViE recently premiered the International Version of Josie Ho’s movie, Dream Home, at the MOViE MOViE Cityplaza in Tai Koo. Star and producer Josie Ho, together with producer Conroy Chan and their new talent Iman Taheri, attended the event in person.
Talking about Dream Home, Josie Ho said:
“Because of its edgy content, ‘Dream Home’ had a short release back then. Being able to bring the International Version back to Hong Kong cinemas today feels like justice has finally been served!”
Dream Home earned Josie Ho the Best Actress Award at the 43rd Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival in Spain. According to Josie Ho, her character in the film is more than just a simple villain: she is a socially grounded “anti-heroine” in a movie underlined by a script that boldly blends cult, gore, and violence.
She discussed the film’s production and heavy use of fake blood imported from the U.S. The fake blood from the U.S. provided greater realism and easier cleanup.
Producer Conroy Chan shared how they “bullied” actor Fat Chan (Chan Wai-hung) during the shoot:
“I had to personally clean pig intestines for a scene where Josie’s character slashes his belly, but the intestines still smelled terrible—no one wanted to get close to him!”
Since founding 852 Films in 2006, Hong Kong artist Josie Ho has remained active in the film industry, taking on multiple roles as actor, producer, and investor. Her creative range extends from local to pan-Asian and even Hollywood productions.
Following the premiere of Dream Home at MOViE MOViE Cityplaza, the film was screened at the University of Hong Kong. After the screening, Josie Ho and Conroy Chan participated in a discussion, sharing their experiences and approaches to making the movie.
Throughout January, the MOViE MOViE channel screened five titles starring or produced by Josie Ho: The inspirational sports comedy Full Strike; the musical travel documentary Finding Bliss: Fire and Ice, featuring MC Yan, Jason Kui, The Uni Boys, and Jan Lo; the historical adventure Rajah, starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers as British explorer James Brooke; the dark comedy Habit, co-starring Paris Jackson; and the Japanese horror flick Onpaku, about the birth of a demonic child.
