Merkules delivered an energetic show at the Vancouver stop of his “Controlled Chaos Tour” at the Vogue Theatre.
In what felt like his homecoming show, the Surrey rapper performed his first show back in almost three years, so he wanted to deliver something special. The first two artists on stage were sort of a surprise, because they were not on the official set time of the show, but they were well acclaimed by the crowd.
Ariyo was the first on the stage; his melodic raps and R&B vocals were a good soft start to the night. Ariyo, known in the local Vancouver scene, has been performing and pushing his music in numerous stages around the city.
Next was Lilzayzay. The rapper/producer brought not just his entire crew onstage, but a high-energy performance with his Drill beats. He performed “Gang Bang,” “Dead Man Walking,” and “Run Down,”
Ontario native, Dizzyisdead, was the next to perform. His emotional lyrics changed the mood of the crowd, but they loved his performance. Some of the songs he performed were “I’ll be Fine,” “Low Life,” and “Wish You Worse.”
Country singer, Cheff and podcaster, Mike Foss, hopped on the stage to delight the fans with his melodies, and adorned the stage with some sweet dancers. He performed his latest single, “Small Town,” “Boots and Laundry,” and others.
Another local artist, Terrell Safadi, was the last one of the openers. The rapper hyped up the crowd with his anthemic remix “Red, Black and Yellow,” which honours the Vancouver Canuks, the local NHL team.
Merkules opened his set with “All Night Long,” took off from there, delivering the fans hit after hit. He brought his fiancée to the stage and dedicated her his remix of “Shape of You.”
He brought legendary Vancouver rapper, Snak the Ripper, to the stage to remember their Stompdown Killaz days, and performed “Save Us” and “Move in Silence.”
Merkules stepped down the stage and went to the middle of the crowd to perform the last song of the night, “Safety Of.” But then decided to go back to the stage for an encore because the fans didn’t want to leave, closing with “Drugs and Liquor.”
