Americana outfit Matt Jones and the Bobs unveil their new single/music video, “You Stood Still,” a song revealing vulnerability and wonderful storytelling.

According to Matt Jones, the song is “…a tribute to the people who keep us grounded when the world feels like it’s falling apart. It’s about friendship, love, and the calm you find in the one person who never waivers. It’s a still reminder that even when life spins out, the right person can hold you steady.

Hailing from Southwest Virginia, Matt Jones & The Bobs formed in 2011 at Radford University. In 2014, they released their debut album, Brother’s Hymn, while in college. Yet a year later, in 2015, the members of the band took a break and began pursuing individual interests and other careers.

Nine years later, Matt Jones & The Bobs reappeared as the band got back together. Their sound still reflected their Americana, folk, and southern rock roots, but added hints of ’90s influences, like grunge, along with expanded instrumentation.

The thrust of their music maintains their allegiance to revealing the emotional core of the human condition: love, heartbreak, happiness, and resilience of spirit.

“You Stood Still” rides a mid-tempo rhythm made up of a tight snare and fat bassline, topped by lightly strumming acoustic guitars. The melody offers a delicious blend of country and pop surfaces. As the song advances, it shifts to heavier, electric guitars that infuse the tune with tangs of Southern rock. Jones’ soft, even-keeled vocals imbue the lyrics with relaxed, observational wisdom.
