Hallie Grace Bravely Carries On with Her Single, “You’re My Person” [Premiere]
In the face of enormous adversity, Hallie Grace bravely moves forward with the premiere of her new single “You’re My Person.”
Managing the highs and the lows is one of life’s great challenges, and for Hallie Grace, thank god for music, or she might not have been able to manage. The singer-songwriter debuts her new single, “You’re My Person,” a song that has become very special to her.
You’ll find it on her upcoming album MOTIVATION, a collection of songs that are probably the most unique and valuable to her in her whole career. Grace felt her calling in music for the first time when she was five years old, and she hasn’t looked back. MOTIVATION is her first-ever full-length album, which she worked tirelessly on. Gace worked with co-writers, co-producers, and mixers to make this album the best it could be.
Discussing “You’re My Person,” Grace tells us:
“For me, this song holds extra meaning and sentiment for several reasons. Not only did I get to write it with my best friend, Maggie Collier, but it was inspired as much by my real-life ‘person’ as it was hers. So while the song paints this beautiful picture of a love that transcends the good and the bad, a love so rare that it can persevere through the seemingly impossible, every word of the song is completely genuine, sincere, and down-to-earth. We literally just had real conversations about our real relationships and then wrote those feelings down as lyrics.
“For one thing, this makes me feel incredibly fortunate and thankful. But it also makes me feel proud to be sharing a love song that isn’t either fanciful or heartbreaking; it’s real, and it’s uplifting. To me, it’s the perfect precursor to the album, because loved ones are often our strongest sources of motivation.”
Predominantly an indie-pop record, MOTIVATION focuses on the challenge of not giving up, even in the darkest of times. This isn’t just a marketing ploy either. Grace comes from a very personal place with this album. Early in the album writing process, she became pregnant with her first child. She carried on with writing and recording the album, and things were proceeding fine until tragedy struck. Before recording the final vocals, she got into a significant car accident and tragically lost her unborn son only weeks before her due date. Feeling lost and broken, she was suffering dearly, questioning whether she could go on.
Fortunately, she found a route back to joy in her life through her music. When she got back into the studio, Grace began to rediscover happiness. It helped her rediscover some purpose in life and find meaning, even if she was still severely grieving. This trauma has taught her passion and conviction, and she wants to share those lessons with others. MOTIVATION is a record that anyone can relate to. Authenticity and energy have carried Hallie Grace to this point, and she hopes that she can inspire others to keep going despite their own hardships and challenges.
