dälek Share New Single “Knowledge | Understanding | Wisdom” Ahead of ‘Brilliance of a Falling Moon’
dälek release “Knowledge | Understanding | Wisdom” ahead of ‘Brilliance of a Falling Moon,’ out March 27 via Ipecac Recordings.
Experimental hip-hop pioneers dälek have unveiled their latest single, “Knowledge | Understanding | Wisdom,” taken from their forthcoming album Brilliance of a Falling Moon, due March 27 via Ipecac Recordings.
Conceived, composed and produced by Will Brooks (MC dälek) and Mike Mare, Brilliance of a Falling Moon is described as a sprawling and uncompromising statement shaped by the political climate of the present day. Its title is drawn from a section of In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson, with the album presenting a portrait of resistance and life in what the duo describe as fascist America.
“Knowledge | Understanding | Wisdom” arrives as both a call to action and a reminder of collective power. The band states:
“‘Knowledge | Wisdom | Understanding’ is righteous defiance in the face of those who attempt to keep us uninformed or misinformed. Nothing strikes fear in the heart of the oppressor like these three interwoven concepts.”
Recorded at the group’s Deadverse Studios across 2024 and 2025, the album pairs abrasive, dust-heavy drum breaks with an ominous, immersive atmosphere. Lyrically, Brooks addresses themes including state suppression of information, colonialism and anti-immigration rhetoric. Reflecting on the creative process, Brooks explains that the project was heavily influenced by current global events, citing historical civil rights imagery and the continued fight for dignity and recognition.
The band have once again collaborated with visual artists Paul Romano and Mikel Elam for the album’s artwork.
In addition to the new single, dälek have added further live dates to their schedule.
