Wax Mekanix Bares It All with His “Naked” Music Video [Premiere]
Wax Mekanix premieres the music video for his new single “Naked,” also released today via Electric Talon Records.
As a songwriter, Wax Mekanix strives for diversity and contrast. It’s about honing in on what’s new, what’s different, and what he can say that he hasn’t already said. Today, we help to debut the new Wax Mekanix music video for his latest single “Naked.” The single was also released today via Electric Talon Records.
It is one of his most honest and most human moments as a musician, written at the same time as “Look At You Now” from his 2023 record Psychotomimetic. Wax Mekanix was in an inquisitive phase when these songs were written. He was considering a lot of big questions and reflecting on the concept of renewal.
While “Look At You Now” is a moment of acceptance, “Naked” is one of confrontation. The song is simple yet powerful, not dressed up with fancy production, but stripped down and full of honesty and real energy. Raw and reflective, it is in this moment that Wax Mekanix is comfortable taking the armour off and laying it all on the line. They may sound different, but when considered together, “Look At You Now” and “Naked” trace a path from illusion to truth.
It is very much in Wax Mekanix’s nature to create contrasts within his songwriting. It makes the process more exciting, less predictable, and predicated on truth and feeling. Based in Philadelphia, Waxim “Wax” Ulysses Mekanix is a musician, songwriter, performer, and producer. He is one of the founding members of the cult rock group Nitro. Over the years, he has become known for his raw, uncompromising, authentic approach. Within everything he does, there are lots of human moments that make him such a relatable artist. We live in a world of disparities and opposition. With music as his outlet, Wax Mekanix is determined to keep learning more about the world and himself, and how the parts all fit together in this complicated environment that we inhabit.
