Perfect Weather For Humans Premiere Their Single “Measure For Measure”
Midwestern band Perfect Weather For Humans premiere their transcendent, shoegaze-inspired new single “Measure For Measure.”
One thing that becomes fairly immediately apparent when you hear Perfect Weather For Humans is how transcendent their sound is. It’s one of the things that will immediately strike you when listening to their brand new single “Measure For Measure.” This is the latest single from the band, off their soon-to-be-announced new album.
“Measure For Measure” is a well-composed, multi-dimensional song that does not rest on the laurels of any particular musical era or genre. You hear so many influences within the song, from modern indie rock to ’90s alternative to classic shoegaze to different generations of post-rock. They have established themselves as a band that won’t be typecast or pigeonholed.
Commenting on the song, the band states:
“This is a straight-up revenge song. It’s about longing for the chance to exact vengeance on someone who has harmed you in ways you didn’t think possible. It’s also about feeling terrible about sinking as low as that perpetrator in your mind and realizing a certain terror in the fact that you might be capable of horrible acts. In the end, the narrator leaves it to the future and ends the song hoping that one day she won’t feel the need for payback.”
One of the finest rock acts of the Midwest, Perfect Weather For Humans formed about a decade ago. Interestingly enough, they have made it work as a long-distance recording project amongst friends living in St. Louis and San Diego. By 2021, they had settled on some core contributors, including Micah Parker, Chan Evans, Will Jones, and Shae Moseley. It was around that time that they convened in St. Louis to record the Northstar EP. Released in 2022, the EP introduced listeners to the band’s diverse blend of sounds.
Since the Northstar EP, the band has successfully evolved as a creative entity. Trading files online ended up working well, which also enabled the band to create and fine-tune their own type of efficiency. The fact that they have made it work so well is a testament to the band members and not just their talents and chemistry, but also their determination to work together while fashioning a sound that is distinctively their own.
