Violette Rain Releases Long-Awaited Debut, ‘Charting the Stars in Her Eyes’

It’s not often you come across an artist like Violette Rain, especially on their debut. I could start with the fact that she writes songs like spells; soft, sorrowful, and shimmering with longing—a point of pride that comes through in every note. Or that she’s been so structured in her release schedule from the start, releasing one song per month over the course of 2025—something that requires incredible discipline and planning. Or that each track correlates with the season of its release, many of them wrapped in myth and literature. But two things are clear. The first, that her inspiration of fairytale aesthetic and vintage textures is obvious in her folk-pop storytelling. The second? She’s got immense talent, and if I didn’t know this was a debut, I’d never believe it.

Charting the Stars in Her Eyes arrives today alongside its closing track, “My Little Heart Locket,” which is the last in the series of releases, and one which Violette describes as a tribute to her grandmother.

“Most of the album is wrapped in metaphor, history, and myth, with stories told like riddles for listeners to unravel,” she shares. “In ‘Little Heart Locket,’ I strip away the metaphors to share a tribute to my grandmother…Writing this song was cathartic; it feels like coming home for the holidays after a long journey.”
