Morgans Mill Releases New Album ‘Songs for the Modern Day Man’
Morgans Mill has been releasing music since 2019 and they recently gave fans something special, their first full length album, Songs for the Modern Day Man. The 11 track album mixes southern rock, country grit, and honest storytelling listeners have come to expect from the band.
The record opens with “Right Kind of Good Woman,” a forward-moving track that kicks things into hear for the record. Midway through they pull things back a little with the title track “Modern Day Man,” which starts on a reflective vibe and puts the spotlight on the vocals before building into a big guitar-driven section built for a Nashville stage. The album closes with “Blessed Assurance,” a classic hymn delivered through the band’s southern-rock style.
“If anyone wants to know who we are or what we’re about, it’s somewhere between track 1 and 11.”
The group, built around Dylan Young and AJ Hawkins, pull from influences like Merle Haggard and Blackberry Smoke to formulate their sound. Produced by Matt McQueen at Gem City Studios, the record looks at what it feels like trying to stay grounded in today’s world. In their words, “This album is the story of my life from the last 10 to 15 years. Read it slow. Read it often. You might just find that it’s your life too.”
Across the album, Morgans Mill touches on a lot of different emotions; ranging from tough, funny, honest, to deeply personal. It’s southern rock with soul, using guitars and lyrics to tell stories everyday people can relate to. As the band puts it, “If anyone wants to know who we are or what we’re about, it’s somewhere between track 1 and 11.”
