Merthyr Tydfil’s least favourite sons, Welsh DIY duo Martyrs, have a seasonal surprise for fans. Their brand-new EP sno-fi is out now as a Bandcamp Download Exclusive to benefit Cancer Research UK.

Inspired by a conversation with members of indie pop legends The Understudies about their Christmas Covers Party benefit for Cancer Research UK in London, which takes place at The Waiting Room on December 17th (all details for their fundraiser here), Martyrs, who were sadly unable to play the show, have instead put together a brand new, surprise EP to raise money for the same cause, with all proceeds from sales of the Bandcamp Exclusive EP going to the charity.

The first video taken from the EP has been released, but there are three more available for exclusives across the coming weeks.

Following the honestly quite surprising success of their Halloween Dream EP, tracks from which were played on more than 150 radio stations worldwide and whose music videos have garnered more than 100,000 views, the genre-agnostic DIY duo of Jon Howells (music) and Michael Hall (words) have returned to the lo-fi roots of their 2022 debut album Un Diavolo In Casa for this selection of strange, anthemic, melancholic “festive” tunes.

Michael comments:

“This is a selection of wintry songs that speak to a different kind of Christmas, one experienced by many people who are lonely, or who face addiction, mental health issues or who are suffering through grief at this time of year. We wanted to make something for and about those of us who find themselves in those situations while raising money for a good cause. Please help out if you can.”

sno-fi Track Listing:

1. snowglobe
2. snow through frosted glass
3. snow came down
4. snowglobe (Live Acoustic)
5. snow came down (Demo Version)
6. snowblind
