Lizzie Weber is happy to announce that her video for her new single “Maria,” featuring Academy Award winner Markéta Irglová (The Swell Season/Once), is out now. Lauded as “a soul-stirring beacon of raw, shiver-inducing emotion” that is “symbolic, spiritual, and deeply human; a tether to the unseen, an invocation of something maternal and mystical,” the video is out now.

“Maria” was written at Weber’s home in St. Louis, MO, and recorded across multiple spaces: She travelled west to record with Seattle-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Nathan Yaccino (Brandi Carlile, Soundgarden) at his studio there, known as The Ballard Bait Shop. Irglová recorded her vocals remotely at her studio in Reykjavík, Iceland, while Yaccino and Weber brought performers Eli Moore (First Aid Kit, Laura Veirs, LAKE) and Abby Gundersen (SYML, Noah Gundersen) to contribute bass and strings, respectively.

The studio recording of “Maria” unfolds as a richly woven, otherworldly sonic tapestry. Weber’s warm, poetic lead vocals are delivered in a hushed, intimate tone, blending seamlessly with Irglová’s flawless harmonies. Weber’s affection for lyrical nuance shines here, though one of the song’s most striking moments arrives in the outro, where Weber’s unexpected shift to a major key and Irglová’s intricately layered vocals create a luminous resolution. Weber hopes the song serves as a reflective journey for listeners: a space to pause, feel, and find pieces of themselves woven through the song.
