Jessie Reyez and her “Paid in Full Tour” packed the Vogue Theatre for two nights in Vancouver last week.
The Toronto singer with Colombian roots returned to one of the cities that has shown her the most love throughout her career after a few years of absence, and her show did not disappoint.
Touring with her is another Toronto native, Raahim, who delighted the fans with his voice and sweet melodies with songs like “Peak (Fed Up),” “Just Like Me,” “Spinning the Block,” and “Dive.”
As soon as Jessie took the stage, the fans went wild. She opened with “Never Said I Was Sane.” Her third song was “Goliath,” which she mixed with salsa at the end, and she called her father on stage so they could dance together.
She had a session featuring a few songs, “NYB,” “PALO SANTO,” and “PSILOCYBIN & DAISIES” where she performed at secondary stage, located on the of the big screen on the back of the stage. There was a very political moment, where Jessie expressed her concerns about the mass deportations occurring in the U.S., and reflected on some words her mother gave her a few weeks back when she told her that in times like these, we should be calling for unity and not spreading division.
Jessie performed the song “Sola,” completely in Spanish, which she dedicated to all the Latinos in the building. She closed her set with “Cudn’t B Me” where she did a fake pump first and let the fans sing the first part, and then she started with the band.
After leaving the stage and receiving a standing ovation, Jessie returned to the stage to perform one more song, “Still C U,” which was chosen by the fans voting through a link shared at the beginning of the show.
