With all of the negative energy that abounds within politics, the 24-hour news cycle, and social media, EVRO represents the positive vibes that you need in your day. He’s come to unleash some of that bold, useful energy today with the premiere of his new music video for “Ninth Gate.”

This is one of the standout tracks from his recently released debut record EVRO1. The song is an elevating techno-pop adventure, classic in its approach. It’s reminiscent of classic techno, with a driving, pulsating beat that will reel you right in. Today marks the premiere of the track’s official music video, directed by Nic Seago. It features EVRO performing the song in a metro station meant to represent the passage of time, change, and renewal.

Elaborating on the song and the video, EVRO tells us:

“It’s a triumphant yet melancholic exploration of ego dissolution, where transcendence meets introspection. Directed by Nic Seago, the video depicts a liminal time loop at the threshold of transformation, merging internet-age with an indie aesthetic to mirror the song’s cyclical and transcendent nature.”

The solo project of Los Angeles-based musician Matiss Evreoux, EVRO, released his debut album EVRO1 last month. Originally from the Basque Country, EVRO combines emotional pop sensibilities with the rawness of post-punk and the energy of new wave, techno, and hyperpop. EVRO1 is defined by its anthemic and introspective track listing, exploring the process of moving through emotional turmoil. Each song mirrors the emotional or mental state of moving through each stage of emotional trauma. From heartbreak, anger, and tension to renewal and coming to peace within an environment of chaos, the album acknowledges each step of the process.

As an artist, EVRO finds interest and fascination with self-expansion, transformation, and wanderlust. Music and growth go hand in hand, and it can teach a person a lot about themselves. EVRO1 is helping to establish him as one of electronic pop’s most exciting new voices. He doesn’t necessarily have a playbook. He mostly operates on intuition and emotion. With EVRO1 and his new EP Romance in Saturn’s Return coming on April 3rd, EVRO is redefining the boundaries of modern experimental pop music.
