Trust Records x VANS Drop ‘Intense Energy: The Sounds of Skateboarding’ Short Film

Intense Energy: Sounds Of Skateboarding is a short film by director Coan Buddy Nichols that explores the intersections of skateboarding and underground music, where it started and how it evolved into what it is today.

Trust Records, in partnership with VANS, takes you from the backyard pools to the Brooklyn Banks with the soundtrack that was crucial to these scenes. In this 22-minute short, hear from pioneer skateboarders of the ’80s like Steve Olson, Tony Alva, Steve Caballero, into the ’90s with Mike Carroll, Eli Morgan Gesner, to today with Beatrice Domond, Atiba Jefferson, and more. Musicians Zack de la Rocha, Ray Barbee, Jeff Ament, Ian MacKaye, and others attest to the inspiration skateboarding had on music and vice versa.

Intense Energy: Sounds Of Skateboarding is available today. To celebrate the release, Trust Records and VANS will host a free show and screening at VANS Skate Space (198 Randolph St., Brooklyn, NY 11237) on Friday, November 21st, from 7 to 10 pm.
