Track By Track: Red Axes Explore the Themes of Electrifying New Album ‘LOUD’
Lifelong friends Niv Arzi and Dori Sadovnik aka Red Axes give us a track-by-track look at their electrifying new album ‘LOUD’.
Their fifth studio album, LOUD, is everything Red Axes do best. Gritty guitars, pounding drums, trippy synths, and a live energy that feels urgent and alive – this is the sound of a band fully in motion. From the very first note, Loud hits like a signal flare: raw and charged.
For the first time, Niv and Dori wrote all the songs in advance – two focused months of writing before stepping into the studio. With a clear direction and a new band lineup locked in: Gil Broid on guitar, Roy Chen on drums. Unlike previous albums, which leaned on electronic production with live elements added in, Loud flips the dynamic. This time, the band leads the way to a sound that lands somewhere between post-punk, electronic rock, and dancefloor hypnosis.
The album also brings in some of the duo’s most exciting collaborations to date: the legendary Rowetta of Happy Mondays, no wave pioneer Sal P of Liquid Liquid, Warmduscher frontman Craig, and longtime friend and creative force A.Lonzo.
LOUD is Red Axes amplified – a full-throttle, full-band transmission that connects past and future, clubs and stages, chaos and control.
1. “Girl”
This track is about the wish for inner change and emotional growth. I wrote it during a time when I was facing some pain and trying not to escape it, just sit with it and let it teach me something. It’s not about big spiritual ideas, just being real with what’s there. Musically, it falls somewhere between indie soul and soft alternative rock. simple, honest, and a bit raw. This one came out like a letter. Words that had to be said. It’s not about clarity – it’s about pressure. The city, the silence, the smell of something familiar. “Girl” doesn’t try to solve anything, it just floats there, half-closed eyes and open heart.
2. “We Do for Love (feat. Rowetta)”
“We Do for Love” walks through fire in slow motion. It’s dramatic, soulful, and heavy – but always moving. Rowetta brings the power, the pain, the truth. The kind of track that doesn’t ask questions, just says what everyone’s feeling. The vocals came first – big, raw, no pretending. We wrapped it in rhythm and let it breathe. It’s about what people break and rebuild in the name of love. Not romantic love -real love. The complicated, messy kind. The track hits hard, but never tries too hard.
3. “Home (La La La)”
“Home (La La La)” is the soundtrack to that point in the night where everything gets blurry – you’re half in a conversation, half out of your body, feet fried, head gone, music still loud. We’ve all been there. The track wrote itself. We had this line stuck in our heads, like someone crying at an afterparty but also kind of enjoying it. We looped it, added some energy, and let it ride the edge between collapse and euphoria.
4. “Up & Down (feat. Sal P)”
“Up & Down” is a paranoid groove. A voice in your head, a bassline in your bones, a poem written somewhere between the dancefloor and the void. It’s funky, abstract, and wired with tension. Sal P says it like it is – or like it might be. This one felt like a walk through a strange hallway – mirrors, doors, no clear way out. We kept it raw, let the beat talk, and gave Sal the space to unravel. It’s not one mood – it’s many. Built for the body, but aimed at the mind.
5. “Blind”
“Blind” is for when the lights are on but nothing makes sense. A slow burner with a shadow over it: dark-eyed, full-hearted, eyes wide shut. It’s a track about dancing through the fog, when the only clear thing is the feeling. We leaned into the haze. The groove stays steady, but everything around it feels off-axis, like you’re watching the night from underwater. It’s not sad, just disconnected. “Blind” doesn’t ask for answers. It’s already deep in the question.
6. “Church Ave (feat. A.Lonzo)”
“Church Ave” is a cult sermon in the form of a song. Hypnotic, theatrical, and a little unhinged. Voices calling out, guitars preaching, rhythms rising. You’re not sure if you’re being saved or recruited – and that’s the point. This one grew out of a shared obsession with control and chaos. A.Lonzo came in with words that hit like doctrine, and we wrapped them in a twisted gospel groove. It’s playful, dark, and full of smoke. A celebration with edge.
7. “In the Club”
“In the Club” is a list, a rant, a punchline. Airports, Red Bull, earplugs, sunburn – the modern tour diary turned mantra. It’s loud, sarcastic, and weirdly real. A love-hate letter to the scene, written in jetlag. Sometimes the best lyrics are just the truth. We kept the beat simple, the energy restless. It’s not deep, but it hits, like the third night in a row or the fourth drink you didn’t need. A club track about the club. Go figure.
8. “Lava Lava (feat. A.Lonzo)”
“Lava Lava” is pure eruption. Unfiltered, chaotic, and melting with pressure. It’s violent, sexy, and slightly absurd – just the way we like it. A.Lonzo goes full force while the beat keeps cracking the floor underneath. This track came from below: hard energy, no breaks. A.Lonzo brought a volcanic performance, and we just stoked the fire. It’s heavy but playful. Industrial funk from the earth’s core. For lovers, fighters, and freaks with heat.
9. “Seek & Destroy”
“Seek & Destroy” is sharp, fast, and watching you. It’s got a punk soul and a cold stare. No build-up, no resolution – just motion. A track that chases you down with a grin, and doesn’t care if you trip. We were in a mood. This one came out as instinct – direct, distorted, and a little paranoid. We didn’t fix the rough edges. We kept them in. It’s about speed, risk, and the joy of blowing things up when they’re too quiet.
10. “Life is Young”
“Life is Young” is sunshine with teeth. It’s simple, stubborn, and full of energy that refuses to age. The message is in the title, but the delivery comes with a wink -confident, weird, a little manic. We wanted something that felt like running downhill and not stopping. A chant, a groove, a jolt. It’s not nostalgic – it’s present. Built on instinct, not polish. A reminder that fun is serious business.
11. “Cloud”
“Cloud” floats, but it’s heavy. A soft spiral into sadness, memory, and static. It’s poetic but not fragile – a storm under the surface. The kind of track that sneaks up on you while you’re still dancing. This one came from the darker corners. We didn’t rush it. Just let the atmosphere thicken and follow where the words led. “Cloud” is introspection in motion – sad, strange, and somehow still moving forward.
12. “Dreamer of Dreams (feat. Clams)”
“Dreamer of Dreams” is smooth, hypnotic, and full of late-night soul. It floats between fantasy and funk – romantic but never cheesy, distant but deeply felt. Clams brings warmth. The rest is fog and motion. This track came from a softer place. Less noise, more space. We followed the mood and let Clams lead. There’s rhythm, there’s light, there’s a little mystery. It’s a dream with a pulse.
13. “Freak (feat. A.Lonzo)”
“Freak” is unhinged in the best way. Loud, sweaty, and proudly off the rails. It’s a party, a provocation, and a dare. A.Lonzo doesn’t hold back, and neither does the track. We didn’t plan this one. It just happened fast, weird, and loud. Built on impulse, driven by chaos. It’s not trying to be cool. It’s just letting the freak out. And once it’s out, good luck putting it back.
