Of Monsters and Men Kick Off the “Mouse Parade Tour” in Brooklyn [Photos]

On November 1st, 2025, Icelandic folk rock legends Of Monsters and Men kicked off the North American leg of their “Mouse Parade Tour,” in celebration of their recent album release of the same name. The tour was originally slated to begin the week prior, but illness forced the band to postpone the preceding Toronto and Boston shows, making Saturday night at the Brooklyn Paramount the band’s long-awaited American return.

Árný Margrét opened the night with a mellow yet powerful set. Also hailing from Iceland, the singer-songwriter’s introspective writing displays a maturity beyond her 24 years. The Brooklyn venue features high ceilings covered in multicoloured panels and detailing, not unlike a church, and was truly the perfect setting for such a quietly moving performance. If Margrét’s 2022 record, They Only Talk About the Weather, is any indication of what’s to come, she is one you’ll want to keep on your radar in the coming years.

Finally, Of Monsters and Men took the stage for their first North American headline show in over six years. Two sold-out nights in Brooklyn aptly demonstrated the anticipation of the band’s return, with smiling faces packed into the room from the railing to the farthest corners of the balcony.

The band played a set sure to please any fan, new or old. The setlist included nearly the entirety of their October 17th release, All is Love and Pain in the Mouse Parade, but also paid homage to their older beloved tunes. They performed radio hits such as “Little Talks” and “Dirty Paws” alongside fan-favourites like “King and Lionheart,” “Crystals,” “Alligator,” and “Human.”

Despite the long break from performing in America as well as an unexpected roadblock, Of Monsters and Men sounded as fantastic as ever. Lyrical and vocal duo Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir and Ragnar Þórhallsson share an incredibly special bond that is so clear to see; the two are so perfectly in tune with each other that it seems almost supernatural.

Guitarist Brynjar Leifsson, bassist Kristján Páll Kristjánsson, and drummer Arnar Rósenkranz Hilmarsson share an equally deep love and respect for their music, rounding out the sonic atmosphere perfectly. The combination of five musicians dedicated both to their craft and to each other made for a positively magical evening of music that left many awestruck, and all with full hearts and enormous smiles.
