Renowned music photographer Scarlet Page has announced the release of Exposed: 3 Years With Placebo, an intimate new black-and-white photography book capturing Placebo during the defining early years of their career. The book will be available from October 29th, 2025, via www.placeboworld.co.uk.

Spanning more than 220 previously unseen photographs, Exposed: 3 Years With Placebo offers a rare glimpse behind the curtain as the band recorded and toured their first three albums:Placebo (1996), Without You I’m Nothing (1998), and Black Market Music (2000). The collection documents the evolution of a band on the rise — raw, unfiltered, and seen through the trusted lens of a photographer who became part of their inner circle.

Page first encountered Placebo at London’s University of London Union in 1996, just before the release of their debut album.

“They were like nothing I had ever seen — sexy, sweaty, raw,” she recalls. That first live show led to a long-term collaboration, including several major editorial shoots and the now-iconic angel wings portrait of frontman Brian Molko, later acquired by the National Portrait Gallery for its permanent collection. It’s about letting the viewer into my world with the band at that time, honest, unguarded, and very real. These are fly-on-the-wall moments. No captions. No commentary. Just the images, as they were.”

I have an unhealthy obsession with bad horror movies, the song Wanted Dead Or Alive and crap British game shows. I do this not because of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle it affords me but more because it gives me an excuse to listen to bands that sound like hippos mating.
