Emerging Italo-Nigerian artist Morenike has released her debut single “Nobody Knows My Name,” via renowned French indie label Kwaidan Records, home to Nouvelle Vague. The track marks the first official introduction to an artist whose sound merges folk, soul, jazz, and electronic influences into a distinctive, atmospheric style.

Born in Ireland and raised in Rome, Morenike Vincent brings a diverse musical background shaped by classical piano training, cello studies, and jazz vocal work at the conservatory before relocating to Paris to develop her artistic identity. Working closely with producer Marc Collin, she draws inspiration from a broad spectrum of reference points from FKA Twigs to Nina Simone to craft a sonic world rooted in hybridity, displacement, and personal exploration.

Speaking about the inspiration for the single, Morenike explains:

“Conceptually, the track explores the idea of freedom within anonymity, in a world that places immense value on visibility and fame. I believe there‘s a unique kind of liberation in remaining unknown: when we‘re not confined by the versions of ourselves that others remember, we can move, transform, and express ourselves more freely. The song also reflects the experience of finally finding a space, both inner and external, where we can exist and create in complete authenticity.”

For Morenike, “Nobody Knows My Name” positions her as a powerful new voice in contemporary experimental music, marking the beginning of an evolving creative journey.
