ILUKA Lists Her Top 10 Tarot Cards
Singer-songwriter ILUKA joins us today to share with us her Top 10 favourite tarot cards and how they relate to her new album.
ILUKA has no qualms or reservations about who she is, both as a person and as an artist. She is unapologetic in her approach to making her music and living her life. Her latest album, the wild, the innocent & the raging, was just released on November 21st. Featuring the singles “Witch Girls,” “Crucify Me,” “Girl On The Run,” and “Woman Gone Mad,” the album is a fierce celebration of individuality, womanhood, and defiance. She recognizes the brutal realities of womanhood (or girlhood) and the relentless scrutiny that women have to endure. ILUKA’s intention was for this record to be as direct as can be. She authentically shares how she feels and who she is, and hopes others can derive some empowerment from that.
Raised on a farm in the Blue Mountains of Australia, ILUKA learned music from her father, who was a luthier by profession. He would handmake guitars, which were the instruments which she learned on. From early on, she had a vision to be a brave and singular voice. Her songs are vulnerable, but she is not afraid to stand up for her beliefs. Honesty is the best policy, and it is what has helped her get to this point, one of the top young voices in alternative pop.
One of ILUKA’s primary interests, which goes along with her songwriting, is astrology and tarot cards. She joins us today to share with us her Top 10 favourite tarot cards and how they relate to her new album.
1. The Moon
“This album dives into the shadowy, mysterious parts of yourself, the stuff you usually hide. The Moon captures that feeling perfectly, like stepping into your own subconscious.”
2. The Magician
“The record is all about reclaiming power and creating your own world. The Magician is that spark of defiance, turning everything you’ve been through into something fierce and fully yours.”
3. The Star
“After the dark nights and anxiety that inspired these songs, The Star is all about hope and healing. It’s the reminder that there’s light on the other side of chaos.”
4. The Empress
“There’s so much lush, feminine energy in this record. The Empress is that creative, immersive power, the feeling of stepping into a world that’s fully alive and unapologetically yours.”
5. Death
“Not literal death, but transformation. The album is about shedding old versions of yourself and rebuilding from scratch. This card captures that perfectly.”
6. The High Priestess
“A lot of the album comes from quiet introspection and intuition. The High Priestess mirrors that mysterious, inner-wisdom energy that runs through the songs.”
7. The Chariot
“Bold, confident, and moving forward, this card is all about reclaiming your agency. The album has that same unstoppable drive.”
8. The Devil
“Some of the songs confront rage, fear, and the darker parts of yourself. The Devil represents that shadow energy and the raw intensity the record leans into.”
9. The Fool
“That reckless, wild freedom you feel when you have nothing to lose, that’s The Fool. It’s stepping into new experiences and trusting the leap, just like the album’s journey.”
10. The Tower
“Upheaval and sudden transformation show up everywhere in this record. The Tower is all about breaking old structures and finding liberation in rebuilding yourself from the ground up.”
