Alicia Moffet Electrifies Montreal’s Théâtre Beanfield [Photos]
Alicia Moffet, joined by up-and-coming singer Dominique Way, brought the electricity to Montreal’s Théâtre Beanfield last week.
Hydro-Québec has been providing electricity to the Province for decades. However, there was a different kind of electricity flowing through the packed Théâtre Beanfield. It was a Friday night, the people were ready to party, and all that was missing was a spark. That was provided by Alicia Moffet.
The old building was suddenly plunged into darkness as the chants of “Ali! Ali! Ali!” grew louder. Was it a blackout? Or a surge caused by every one of the fans in the sold-out building? One thing is for certain, even all of the snow that had fallen earlier in the week couldn’t have slowed this evening down.
Alicia Moffet is a star on the rise. Already a pretty big name in Québec, she is beginning to make bigger waves outside of La Belle Province. This tour got off to a thunderous beginning in Québec City. Combined with the first of two back-to-back sold-out shows, it was one heck of a mission statement. Alicia Moffet is here, and nothing is going to stop her.
Opening the evening was up-and-coming singer Dominique Way. She filled the Théâtre Beanfield with an energy all of her own. It was the energy of a young singer making her first steps towards bigger and better things. Armed with an acoustic guitar and a smile, she immediately won over the crowd. I love seeing these moments with young artists.
She also made a return later in the evening to perform “Mr. Right” with Alicia Moffet, a song that they wrote together. I don’t know her touring history, but seeing her reaction to the big crowd before her was great. I hope she soaked it all in, because that kind of feeling must be awesome.
Alicia Moffet then appeared at the top of one of the largest stage setups that I have ever seen at the Beanfield. As she broke into the first chorus of “Choke,” the fans finally erupted. Every ounce of the energy that had been building up to that moment was finally released. Alicia strutted her way around the stage in full control of the building. That continued into “Run To You” after taking a brief moment to acknowledge how awesome the crowd was.
Alicia released her new album, No, I’m Not Crying, earlier this year and the set list featured almost every track off the album. Her voice is her most powerful weapon, and it was in fine form on this night. She had perfect vocal delivery despite dancing over every inch of the stage, making it a challenge for this old timer to keep up with her. I was out of breath while just watching.
The show really did have it all. A great singer, an energetic crowd and yes, even a surprise marriage proposal from some fans that were brought up on stage. For those of you wondering at home, she said yes. This leg of the “No, I’m Not Crying Tour” only has two other shows coming up in Ontario.
Alicia Moffet’s name will be at the top of several marquees come 2026. You can bet on it.
