Julian Taylor & Jim James Unite on Single, “Don’t Let ’Em (Get Inside of Your Head)”
Julian Taylor has released his new single, “Don’t Let ’Em (Get Inside of Your Head),” featuring Jim James of My Morning Jacket.
Americana/folk singer-songwriter Julian Taylor released his new single, “Don’t Let ’Em (Get Inside of Your Head),” on October 22nd, 2025. The song features Jim James of My Morning Jacket.
Says Julian about the song:
“The way this song came together was very special, innovative, and exciting. It just seemed to flow out of all the musicians in the room. The song features Jim James from My Morning Jacket on vocals.
“I’ve always been a big fan of MMJ, and a chance encounter at the LA Forum when I was asked by my friend, Allison Russell, to perform at the Robbie Robertson Tribute directed by Martin Scorsese, led to a wonderful connection with Jim. We have remained friends.
“When this song was almost done, I thought to send it to him and see what he thought of it. He loved it, so I asked him if he’d be down to sing on it, and he said yes. I love how our voices blend together; it’s quite effortless and natural. Jim brings a tender urgency to the track, and it’s an honour and real gift to have him singing on it. He’s a true gem of a human and one of the world’s great, unique talents.”
Recorded at Gold Standard alongside Aaron Goldstein, David Engle, Tony Rabalo, and Anna Ruddick, the track carries both raw spontaneity and emotional weight. What began years ago as an electronic-leaning demo that Taylor and Engle wrote for film/TV sync has evolved into a fully organic, groove-driven anthem that feels as natural as it is powerful.
