Gaerea have unleashed their latest single, “Hellbound,” alongside an intense new video directed by Tre Film. Following their recent dive into aquatic darkness with “Submerged,” the masked Portuguese collective now emerges engulfed in flames with a track that explores guilt, heartbreak, and the consuming fire of self-destruction.

“Hellbound” marks the latest chapter in Gaerea’s evolution, pushing their sonic boundaries further than ever. The track offers a glimpse into their upcoming fifth studio album, Loss, their first release on Century Media Records, due out March 20, 2026. The new record promises to redefine the band’s sound while retaining the emotional depth and intensity that have become their hallmark.

Speaking about the single, the band commented:

“‘Hellbound’ is an intense and cathartic track, diving deep into themes of guilt, heartbreak, and self-destruction. With searing riffs and visceral vocals, it captures the tension between vulnerability and aggression, love and betrayal. Vivid imagery of fire, thorns, and restless ghosts amplifies its raw emotional weight, making it both haunting and empowering.”

Loss finds Gaerea incorporating elements of their post-black metal roots with sharpened melodies and unexpected textures, including clean singing and choruses that bridge the gap between raw aggression and haunting beauty. It’s an album of transformation, capturing the band at their most fearless and expressive.

Preorders for Loss are available now at gaerea.lnk.to/Loss-Album. The album will be released in multiple physical editions, including limited coloured vinyl variants and exclusive regional pressings, as well as digital and Dolby Atmos formats.

This autumn, the band will join Orbit Culture on the Swedish group’s ‘Death Above Life’ European headline tour.

I have an unhealthy obsession with bad horror movies, the song Wanted Dead Or Alive and crap British game shows. I do this not because of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle it affords me but more because it gives me an excuse to listen to bands that sound like hippos mating.
