Aiming for Enrike Come Alive with the Premiere of ‘Live 23/24 Vol. 2’
Recorded in Oslo, Norwegian instrumental rock duo Aiming for Enrike premiere their new live album ‘Live 23/24 Vol. 2.’
There are some acts, like Aiming for Enrike, that you can’t fully understand or appreciate unless you experience them in a live setting. If you’re new to the duo, you’ll get to know them a whole lot better today with the debut of their new live album Live 23/24 Vol. 2. These aren’t quite songs in a traditional sense, but audio and sensory experiences.
Take the recently released “Feel No Threat / Absent Lovers” as an example. Recorded at Parkteatret, a theatre in the band’s native Oslo in 2023, the track is an ambient, expansive experience, clocking in at over 16 minutes. In total, the album features five tracks, recorded across multiple tours, including that sold-out night in the band’s hometown and a frenzied set at Fever in Tokyo.
Guitarist Simen Følstad Nilsen comments:
“The idea with these live albums was just to capture how we sound right now. When you play songs over and over on tour, they change a little, and that’s really interesting to us. It’s not about making something perfect, it’s about showing the energy that happens in the room, and I think this is a very honest picture of the band at the moment.”
Drummer Tobias Ørnes Andersen adds:
“We recorded many shows, so it was about finding the ones that had the right feeling. Sometimes the sound was a bit rough, but if the atmosphere was great, then that was more important. Playing in a small club or on a big festival stage makes us perform in different ways, and you can hear that difference on the records.”
In their time together, Aiming for Enrike has become notorious for their unpredictable live sets. They are chaotic evenings, but in the best possible way. Songs take shape in different forms and take on a whole new life, completely separate from the last gig they played. Their shows are marked by unforgettable moments that are both unique and extraordinary. They are defined by their spontaneity, where you just have no idea what’s going to happen. Live 23/24 Vol. 2 is an important milestone for the band as it gives you a glimpse into how they are able to conjure up the creativity on the spot to lend every show its own unique identity.
Just like its predecessor, Vol. 1, this album is a statement from a band that is fully committed to the live musical experience. They play without any assistance from backing tracks, relying solely on their own efforts to generate the sounds that you hear. They rely entirely on live looping, drums, and instinctive, impulsive chemistry.
Aiming for Enrike are not just content with being another live act. They are driven by their pursuit of greatness, pushing the limits of what a duo can do entirely on their own. For listeners, it’s a time to appreciate an act fully committed to providing their fanbase with an unparalleled, one-of-a-kind experience.
