Ho99o9 – ‘Tomorrow We Escape’ [Album Review]

Some artists arrive as people are looking for an outlet to vent. Sex Pistols, Rage Against The Machine, and even Slipknot provided that musical valve which, when opened, became that outlet. In 2025, it is Ho99o9’s turn to provide this valve for a society that, let’s face it, is on the verge of imploding.

Imagine if The Prodigy grew up on the tough streets of LA and collaborated with Ministry and Rage Against The Machine. Their latest album, Tomorrow We Escape, blazes out of the Los Angeles via New Jersey music scene in the form of a furious ball of punk, hip-hop, grime, noise, and hardcore. By the time the distortion-drenched “Target Practice” hits, where the duo spit “Here we go again with the same old shit…,” the fuse has been lit.

On paper, Ho99o9 pulls together a volatile melting pot of sounds. The result should sound like a mess, but nothing could be further from the case. Whether it is the incendiary “Incline” with guests (Nova Twins, Pink Siifu, and Yung Skrrt) or the volatile “LA Riots,” Tomorrow We Escape is a dark, tense album, one that doesn’t as much feel like it is about to blow, more that it is the soundtrack to the carnage a social uprising would bring with it.

Aside from the aforementioned “Incline”, you can find Ho99o9 team up with a number of guests throughout Tomorrow We Escape. Former Dillinger Escape Plan frontman Greg Puciato links up with the pair for snarling “Tapeworm,” while “Immortal” sees the pair joined by Chelsea Wolfe for a haunting collaboration.

Tomorrow We Escape is an album that burns down musical borders, doing so as it drips with tension, fury, and outright rage. It is the soundtrack to accompany how society feels in 2025 and one of the most essential albums of the year.
