Blase Premieres His Tough New Single “Dirt Into Gold”
Indie artist Blase has released his new single “Dirt Into Gold” from his Fort Lowell Records-released new record ‘Somewhere Out There.’
The broad, expansive sound you hear on Blase’s new single “Dirt Into Gold” is reflective of the broad, expansive circumstances in which it was written. Today marks the premiere of the multi-instrumentalist’s new song from his new record, Somewhere Out There. This is the third single from the album, the follow-up to “Under the Same Stars,” ahead of the October 24th release of Somewhere Out There via Fort Lowell Records.
“Dirt Into Gold” is a nice representation of the entire record, with its layered synths combined with a warm indie pop infrastructure. The song itself focuses on resilience and transformation, celebrating the quiet strength required to turn life’s many uncertainties into opportunities for growth and optimism. Sonically, it doesn’t necessarily represent any particular generation of electronic-based music. In fact, it would fit in well with virtually any era of popular music.
With a comment on the song, Blase says:
“‘Dirt Into Gold’ was written about hard work paying off when you least expect it to. Oftentimes, it’s hard to see the end result of something when things are unknown and the times are up and down, but then with persistence, you start to see the end result and that your work paid off.”
Somewhere Out There is an apt title for the record, given the background and effort that went into discovering the inspiration for writing and recording it. Blase began work on the album after returning home from travelling across America, experiencing the country’s many sights and subcultures. The songs, as a full piece of music, turn wandering into understanding and distance into connection. Blase composed the album to have deep emotional landscapes, inviting the listener to go find their own way. Everyone has got their own road to travel, and it’s up to you to not just find it, but also take that walk down it. Blase impressively blends heartfelt storytelling with comprehensive musical arrangements. This is a call to find your own way, while balancing the tension that exists between the contrasts of isolation and connection.
