Apres Pompeii Releases New Album ‘Paint’

Chicago based musical artist Apres Pompeii just released his new album, Paint. It’s the project’s first album since 2021’s Clay, and the wait for this new album is well worth it. Pompeii delivered something that strikes a chord from top to bottom.

The 13-song record was teased earlier this year with two singles—“ROOTS”, a love letter to queer identity and history, and “BREAKER”, a blast of high-energy longing. “This album is inspired by movement, it is dynamic and dramatic. It is meant to evoke the feeling of a hot humid summer night out in the city.”

The album opens with “PANT”. An upbeat song that’s loaded with Apres’ smooth, soulful vocals. Halfway through, “FIND ME” gives listeners a higher energy rock n’ roll feel with guitars and a driving beat. The album saves the title track for last. It sends listeners off with a tasetful mix of synths and bass that feels dreamy and alive.

“I wanted the album to feel like a hot summer night in the city—dark, fun, moody, and sweaty.”

It’s a shift from their earlier indie-folk sound, but the storytelling and poetic lyrics are still the focal point. The songs bounce between danceable energy and tender moments, making it feel like an exciting night out.

Put it on, turn it up, and see where it takes you. Paint is out now wherever you listen to music.
