Queen Anne – “Let’s Dance” [Song Review]

Indie-pop outfit Queen Anne drops their sophomore single, “Let’s Dance,” which follows on the heels of their debut single, “Real Enough.” The duo pulls off their reimagining of David Bowie’s well-known song with subtle finesse and aplomb.

Vocalist Katie Silverman explains, “I picked ‘Let’s Dance’ because there’s something so fervent, so this-is-our-last-chance about that song, and because I already owned a pair of red shoes.”

Made up of Silverman (vocals, songwriter) and Sandy Chila (writer, producer), Queen Anne’s sound melds elements of ’80s pop-punk with edgy tangs of postmodern music. The multi-talented Silverman, who has appeared in shows like New Girl, Pen15, and the film The Exorcists, recently turned her creative gifts to music with grand success.

Queen Anne will release their third single, “Lexi Loves Me,” an original song, in the middle of September 2025.

“Let’s Dance” rolls out on a brooding acoustic guitar topped by Silverman’s evocative, haunting vocals, suffused in dark, sensual tones. A galloping rhythm summons suggestions of Chris Isaak and Ennio Morricone, merging flavors of alt-pop and Spaghetti-Western into a bewitching, swaying motion. Under Queen Anne’s deft touch, the tune takes on a whole new and wonderfully innovative personality.

With its shadowy, quiet storm feel, as well as its avant-garde-country coloring, “Let’s Dance” is intense and appealing.
